Naturopathic Wellness Dinner: Autumn cold and flu prevention 11/12/2011

On November 12th we will be hosting our first dinner in our Wellness Dinner Series at Abby’s Table here in Portland, Oregon.  Dr. Shannon Weeks (Naturopathic Physician) and Dr. Alexis Shields (Naturopathic Physician) have collaborated with the Open Kitchen to assemble local ingredients that aid in the prevention of colds and influenza.   We have taken these ingredients and created a fine dining menu that is guaranteed to taste good, and will help you stay healthy.   Wellness dinners are a collaboration of health professionals and culinary professionals to delve into the relationship between the foods we eat and our health.  A question and answer period will follow the dinner.

First Course: Chicken consomme with ginger and scallions

Second course: Black rice stir fry with chantrelle mushrooms and tumeric toasted pumpkin seeds

Third course: Cinnamon braised beef on a bed of wilted autumn greens dressed in a balsamic date viniagrette with a crispy fried sweet potato cake

Dessert: pumpkin casserole with a honey-coconut “cream”

If you are Vegan or Vegetarian, we will definitely have options for you, please contact me  (Daniel@theopenkitchenpdx.com) ahead of time and I will create a menu for you with Dr. Weeks and Dr. Shields.

Dinner starts at 7 PM on Saturday November 12 at Abby’s Table.  Tickets are $45 per person.
